Review of FernGully: The Last Rainforest (1992) by Chris O — 07 Feb 2011
A complex environmental commentary on pollution, deforestation, and animal cruelty... for kids. :D ...When the misuse of fairy magic hurtles a human being into the secret world of tiny rainforest people, the discoveries are haunting.
This is basically the end-all, be-all of "green" movies. And for 1992, it was way ahead of the game. A must-see for children and adults alike, this film takes "ecofriendly" to a totally animated level.
It's got humor, a powerful message, and Tim Curry singing "Toxic Love". Totally classic... and hey, if you like this one, go check out James Cameron's remake. Not so much for the kids, but equally animated.
