Review of Fermat's Room (2007) by Riff R — 28 May 2009
Unlike the main characters in the movie, you won't want to leave the room while you're watching this film. Amazing thriller. Keeps you on the edge of your seat for the whole hour and a half. Characters are very well constructed and very interesting in their own specific way, and the relationships between them are very wisely weaved.
It manages to be very intelligent, with dialogues full of puns and a very witty sense of humor, but without being too mathematical. The problems selected are great, and test the viewer's thinking skills in a very fun and challenging way.
This movie is better constructed than the room it focuses in, and instead of shrinking as it goes by, it gets better and better. Even though its plot focuses on several different critical thinking problems, the whole of the film is an enigma the viewer will love to decifer, full of imperceptible details and clues that, as irrelevant as they may seem in hindsight, perfectly lead to the brilliant conclusion.
Excellent film.
