Review of Fences (2016) by Unfinishedinbk — 07 Jan 2017
No spoilers here just a few observations. Given what Fences the play is I can't imagine a more difficult thing to bring to film. The dialogue is great. These characters can be any of us at some point in life.
I saw myself in Troy, Rose and Corey. If you can sit still and listen to people talk then this film is for you. If something must blow up every half hour then not so much. Is Fences an Oscar nominee for Best Adapted Screenplay, no, but do Denzil and Viola give masterful performances, the answer is an resounding yes.
