Wisely Denzil Washington hasn't tried to make a great film, what he has done is filmed a great play which means nothing gets in the way of the quite remarkable screenplay and extraordinary acting. It's a masterclass really, even down the the supporting roles.
Even though it's long and not a great deal happens on the surface, it's wonderfully touching and at moments uncomfortably honest. Oscars all round.
