The acting in this film was simply phenomenal on all levels. While Denzel Washington and Viola Davis stand out, the supporting actors were just as great. This movie is adapted from the stage, so it is very dialogue-heavy, which I like. I loved that 90% of the story was told from Troy's backyard. The art of the direction is very subtle. It's one of those movies where you appreciate the story more and more after you leave the theater.
It was a solid character-driven movie with brilliant acting.
