Did not learn anything about people, the time, or life by watching this movie. Could not wait until it ended and only finished it hoping for an epiphany which did not occur for me. The acting and lines had several good moments but the theme left this movie dry for me.
If you want a movie that teaches: you live, you die, and you are a product of your environment, despite how much you hated your upbringing, then this is the movie for you.
