Review of Femme Fatale (2002) by Jason C — 22 Aug 2009
Extremely well shot if mediocrely acted, schlock celebration of cinema with the usual Hitchcock trappings from M. De P. Throw in some voyeuristic girl on girl action and the sights of Paris and this is an enjoyable tease.
The kind of self referential stuff I imagine the French would die for, hence the bankroll and the setting. 24 films in if De Palma actually had something to say (instead of repeatedly yanking the chain of cinephiles and perving on women) he might actually threaten to one day be a decent film maker instead of a merely a Hitchcockian craftsman.
