Review of Female Trouble (1976) by Scott U — 09 Aug 2007
Divine in yet another dual role where he plays his usual female persona, as well as a very slimy masculine character as well. Plot and story are lacking, but sheer antics, and extremity of perversion make this an amusing film, if nothing more.
I give this film 3 stars overall, but I give David Lochary, and John Water's scripting of this character 5 STARS.
David Lochary is definitely one of the all-time best character actors when it comes to his unmatched mix of snobbery, deviance, gentility, and verbosity. Lochary imbues this character with such perverse elitism, and self-righteous fetishistic maliciousness, that I was in constant awe of his deviant mannerisms.
Additionally, as a previous reviewer stated, it is hilarious that this film featured a mother who desperately wanted her son to be gay, and, of course, was lesbian herself. This is the funniest gay humor I have observed, probably because it was created by a proud homosexual personality, and his equally colorful friends.
