Review of Female Trouble (1976) by Ashley C — 01 Mar 2009
In which John Waters takes the shock, ugliness, and all-around bad taste of Pink Flamingos and uses it to craft a withering satire on fame and celebrity. This is far and away the best film from Waters' early period and, in my view, the best thing he's ever put out.
It should be stated, though, that people who discovered Waters by way of Hairspray and the like should probably proceed with extreme caution.
