Review of Fellini: I'm a Born Liar (2003) by Daniel B — 08 Feb 2004
This document of the great Italian director Fellini relies heavily on interviews with director, which is the strength of the film. Fellini talks at length about his filmmaking philosophy and the film offers an fascinating insight into making of some of his greatest movies. In addition, it offers insight from some of the many actors and writers involved with Fellini?s films. I thought it was fascinating but others, who aren?t that familiar with Fellini?s work might come away confused and perhaps not that impressed. The film is not a biography of Fellini?s life nor is it a chronology of his career and his films. Scenes from his films, and interviews with actors involved, are not identified on screen and viewers that are new to Fellini will come away with much of perspective of the director?s overall career..

Overall, an interesting documentary for Fellini buffs but not a primer for those Fellini novices. .
