Review of Fed Up (2014) by Robert B — 12 Jan 2016
The biggest issue I have with this film is that we've heard it all before! All of it is outrageous and the food industry is messed up in America and kids just keep getting fatter and fatter because nobody is seriously trying to help.
There's sugar in everything and there's not enough balance of eating actually good foods and exercising. Food marketing is terrible, and the school systems aren't funded well enough to provide. These are all the lessons of the film.
I feel like I was almost watching Supersize Me all over again. Maybe it's where I'm located where local food and vegetables are plentiful and cheap that make me hyper aware of it, but it just all felt redundant.
I think there's some info in here you may not have heard before, but again, it all seems transparent enough that any sensible adult should know that cookies and chips from the grocery aisles aren't as good for you as veggies and a home-cooked meal from scratch.
It's on Netflix, watch it or don't - you can guess literally every beat.
