Review of Feast of Love (2007) by Marianela G — 06 May 2009
There hasn't been a movie to touch me this deeply since Under the Tuscan Sun. It starts off with this beautiful quote spoken by Morgan Freeman, who all the more makes anything sound beautiful, "There is a story about the Greek Gods; they were bored so they invented human beings, but they were still bored so they invented love, then they weren't bored any longer. So they decided to try love for themselves. And finally, they invented laughter, so they could stand it. ".
The movie is considerably heartbreaking and concurrently uplifting. The dialogue reads like a poem and completely tore up my heart. At one point in the movie the lead character deliberately hurts himself. When asked by the doctor why he did it, he said, "I wanted to feel in my body as much pain as I feel in my heart.".
The storyline forces you to open your eyes in your waken life, and if you're a person to experience heartbreak before, it makes you want to walk forward with a new sense of awakening knowing anything is possible... because "love is the only reason there is to this crazy dream.".
