Review of Feast III: The Happy Finish (2009) by Amy H — 21 Feb 2009
With Feast 3: The Happy Finish comes the conclusion of one of THE most bizarre monster horror films ever. What started as people trapped in a bar and being attacked by large monsters in the first one escalated to people trapped in a small town and being attacked by said monsters and finally taking to the sewers to be attached by some of the same monsters as well as various hybrids.
The 3rd film is a clear continuation of the 2nd film in terms of style and story (Wes Craven, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and company are long gone and unable to sway director John Gulager's decisions in creating art).
If you didn't like the second one, you will not like this one, but if you are just as fucked in the head as me or anyone else who DID enjoy the second, you will relish in this 3rd film and probably think it's the greatest thing ever.
All of the surviving (and barely surviving) cast from the 2nd film continue to fight off these monsters until each one suffers a horrible and gore-filled death. A couple of new characters come into play, such as Shitkicker (rivaling the Hero character in the first film), Jean-Claude Segal (an action hero whose role is also quite anti-climatic), and The Prophet a.
K.a. Short Bus Gus (played by Josh Blue, the down syndrome comedian who won Last Coming Standing...I'm sure you can guess how his role plays out). Anyways, there's more Monster rape, a monster being devoured (hilarious), and monster shitting.
The humor is kicked up a notch in the film, which was nice, but nothing had me laughing harder or caught up in such awe and confusion as the final conclusion of this series. You have to see this ending to believe it.
I'm really hoping they go for a Part 4, because I'm not done with this series.
