Review of Feast III: The Happy Finish (2009) by Steven N — 12 Jul 2009
While I've enjoyed the "Feast" series for the most part, I think that this final installment misses the mark a bit. Picking up right were "Feast 2" left off, the third film in the series continues to tell the story of the remaining survivors as they attempt to escape the podunk town the creatures have then trapped.
Part 2 was good because at no point did it attempt to get too serious - it was gore for the sake of gore, and goofy beyond belief. While there are buckets full of blood in this one, some of the fun is missing.
Don't get me wrong, it doesn't attempt to become "Remains of the Day" or anything, but there are long stretches lacking in comedy, and all we're left with is bad acting. Director John Gulager also misses the mark visually this time around.
There are parts of the film that are so dark it's near impossible to even make out what in the world you're watching. In the end, while I didn't "hate" the final installment of the trilogy, I was a bit bored by it as well.
Hardcore gore-hounds will no doubt find something worthwhile here, but in the end that's all the film has to offer, which is a shame because I enjoyed the first two for the most part.
