Review of Feast (2005) by Doctor B — 27 Jul 2010
I didn't know what other rating to give this movie. Feast is not the worst of its kind; in fact, it just might be the best of its kind, which is precisely why I can't give it more than a three star rating. It's brutal, gory, disturbing, and disgusting. Just when you think it can be any more perverse or vulgar, one of the monsters starts coiting with an unusual oriface and all manner of bodily fluids splash against the camera lens. Feast is one of those movies your wish you could un-see. It doesn't just test the limits of horror; it urinates on them, and then runs screaming in exploitation's general direction.
At least it has the decency to have a sense of humour, I guess, though I can't say I was laughing once the blood and other liquids started pouring. Part of the movie was spent fighting nausea or hiding behind my hands, while the other part of the movie was spent disassociating from reality. Every time I opened my mouth, I thought something was going to land inside it, something I really didn't want to be there. Nevertheless, for what Feast is, Feast is awesome. It's just not something I ever want to see again.
