Review of Fearless (2006) by Jeremy L — 01 Dec 2010
HUO. YUAN. JIA!
This movie always chokes me up at the end... I'm a sucker for people standing up for what they believe in no matter what adversity they face they realize their life is insignificant in the bigger picture. Gets me everytime...
Anyways onto the movie, I've seen this movie multiple times and its just as powerful everytime. While it might not have the most cohesive storyline or the best acting; it really doesn't matter because this is a martial arts movie. But in spite of that it still conveys a powerful message with simple themes. And rather than the movie being one giant excuse to watch Jet Li take some names its instead a movie about bettering ones mind, body, and soul WHILE taking some names.
The fight scenes are amazing in this movie from start to finish from his rise to fame and his fall to his enlightenment. Also another big pro in this movie is that its light on the Chinese propaganda which is a big deal since historical icons in Chinese history are often used shamelessly in that manner.
In short... if you haven't seen this yet, do so as soon as possible. You won't regret it.
