Review of Fearless (1993) by Ken C — 27 Dec 2010
Man oh man oh man. Has Jeff Bridges ever been in shit? I mean seriously I don't think i've ever seen him in a bad movie before, Tideland maybe but still. This movie just ended perfectly I mean it may be too soon in the review to start talking about the ending but it was just so perfect. This Peter Weir guy knows how to finish a movie, he knows exactly when to stop before the audience says to the tv okay that's enough. It's sad too I almost started sobbing and yet also found myself smiling watching Jeff act in the last few minutes we see him. Him and his wife didn't make a very believeable couple but I think that was the point because he was falling in love with one the survivors of the same plane crash that he was on at the same time his marriage with his wife was failing. At one point I started to get kind of annoyed with Jeff acting all hippy like and acting like he's god because he isn't scared of anything but you can sort of feel him as an actor fighting himself as the character to make it so the audience won't become uninterested in him. I don't really know how to explain it but I think you'll know what i'm talking about after you've watched the movie.
This isn't a flaw or anything but I can't help but ask which game those kids were playing all throughout the movie? I know that it was Splatterhouse but they never tell you which one it was. It couldn't have been the first because they were playing it on the Sega Genesis and not the Turbo Grafx 16, oh well I guess i'll never know.
I highly reccomend this movie. It's uplifting and makes you really question life and the whole life cycle that we live through everyday.
