Review of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998) by Carl S — 19 Apr 2012
Just finished watching this movie couple weeks ago, and it's hard to believe I've slept on this film. The entire film takes you on a drug overdose trip, giving you a sense and feel to how it is to be a drug binge.
Their are couple scenes the are a bit intense and drastic to comprehend. All I was thinking, "dude are these guys tripping balls". Terry Gilliam really takes this film to a whole different level, more of a out-of-box screenplay.
It is a entertaining film that catches your attention from the beginning. Few parts of the film lost my interest though, because I was losing site of the purpose or plot in that matter. I came to realize that's what Fear and Loathing is all about, no exact plot just balls out hallucinating, insane, and maniacal.
Lastly, Johnny Depp gives a remarkable performance that got me waiting what he will do next. He is always capturing these daring odd roles and makes them captivating. Just like, Pirates of the Caribbean, Edward Scissorhands and especially Blow (which is one of my favorite acting roles from him).
Benicio Del Toro makes a great co-star also delivering a fine performance. Did I mention there's also a cameo of spider-man. All in all this is a great film that deserves to be seen.
