" He who makes a Beast of himself gets rid of the pain of being a Man".
This is the principle of the movie. There are many movies that had an "Anti-drug" message like Requiem for a Dream and Trainspotting, but this is the only movie that tells you "why drugs", it's the American Dream, a salvation from drugs, that's what the movie conveys and that's why they mentioned Richard Lester. The music and dialogs are mind blowing, so is the feel of the movie, there's not even a single bad moment here. Johnny Depp and Benicio Del Torro are extremely believable as drug addicts.
