Review of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998) by David E — 20 Jul 2011
The film is really trippy (in the good sense): the special effects truly capture the drug trips experienced by Raoul Duke & Dr. Gonzo (Johnny Depp & Benicio del Toro, respectively). Uneven settings to set the drug mood, wacky characters, oddball dialogue, & perfect wild plotline.
Hunter S. Thompson (R.I.P.) is a genius for making a great book & Terry Gilliam is a one-of-a-kind director for making the book come to life!
