Review of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998) by Mark S — 28 Oct 2011
I suppose these critics hand out low ratings on movies they simply can't comprehend. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is the quintessential drug movie. I partied in my youth and so much of the imagery from the book and Terry Gilliam's movie adaptation ring all too true.
Gilliam has translated Thompson's book to film in a way that only a man nearly as deranged as Thompson could manage. The end product is a two hour trip taking the audience for a wild ride through the drug-hazed eyes of Hunter S.
Thompson. The critic's didn't like this movie, but I suspect they simply couldn't handle what they were experiencing.
