Review of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998) by Hasib H — 10 Jun 2012
A cultural rebellion piece told with the same coherence of an acid trip...in a good way. Johnny Depp is tremendous as an alter ego of Hunter S. Thompson who goes to Las Vegas with his lawyer on a trip to cover a motor bike race.
However, this is more of a chronicle of the race between both main characters as they see who has the better tolerance for almost every psychedelic drug known to man....with some musings sprinkled in about society and the apathy of the citizens that live in this lovely country of ours.
Terry Gilliam manages to make utter chaos seem extremely organized.
