Lizard people, bats, gay policemen looking for sexual favors on the open road, a balding Tobey Mcguire, and a girl obsessed with painting Barbara Streisand... All of this can be found in Hunter S. Thompson's looking glass that obscured Las Vegas in 1971.
Terry Gilliam is one of those visionary directors who has the ability to turn a Thompson book into film. This movie is a trip, a plotless trip, but we must remember that this is art, it is a portrait of America.
