Review of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998) by Seth M — 22 Jul 2013

Definitely had its moments but Fear and Loathing falls short of making a narrative coherent enough to follow and relate. I am a huge Gilliam fan but I think he tried to do too much with the source material making the movie more of a series of sketches about the effects of different drugs rather than a story.

Depp's performance, which the movie is centered around, left me wanting. With all that said, the movie still had that Gilliam style and good material making it pretty entertaining.
