Review of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998) by Jordan K — 29 Mar 2015
Fear and Loathing, directed by former Monty Python star Terry Gilliam, isn't for everyone - its lack of interesting characters are esssential in its plot and it all falls into a boring pile of drug filled activities the characters do that I could care less about by the end.
Oddball buddies Raoul Duke and his Samoan lawyer Gonzo head to Las Vegas for a 3 day drug binge and to basically just start riots and trouble - this is one major issue with the film, its lack of plot.
Like I said, the characters are so dull, with an even duller story like this the characters must be given more info and personality than they did. The movie has little to no plot, should just be called High and Visions in Las Vegas, it's literally Raoul snorting coke and seeing some visions, it gets old by the second vision. Fear and Loathing was bad and like some cult films, may not deserve the status it maintains.
