It can be pretentious at times and really not very interesting outside of some neat visuals, but the neat visuals are enough to make it an entertaining watch. I can understand it having a cult following and being more beloved by fans than critics, but it's not some deep, philosophical, misunderstood masterpiece.
It's just an okay, sometimes fun, little drug trip of a movie.
