Review of Fay Grim (2007) by David A — 13 Oct 2007
There's a lot going on in this sequel to Hal Hartley's epic 1998 film Henry Fool and I'm still wrapping my brain around it. Hartley crafts a complex tale using the old characters while introducing a somewhat confusing batch of new ones.
This is classic Hal Hartley, and its a riot to watch unfold. I suppose somewhere beneath the film's hilariously penned commentary on the state of politics, war, terrorism, fear, etc. in the world today, there exists a simple tale.
..Fay's unquestioning devotion to Henry. Entertaining as hell, but I doubt it'll stand up as well as Henry Fool does 10 years later.
