Review of Fay Grim (2007) by Neil J — 09 Jun 2009
In the film's defence!... I can't believe all the negativity surrounding this film. I absolutely loved it, it was so exciting and hilarious, a good mix of comedy and tragedy, the music was a great mix of traditional hartley soundtrack and suspenseful, the clever plot was obviously purposefully farcical the way it twisted back and forth, and back; yet so many reviewers said, 'my this isn't a proper spy film.' !!!
But its hard recommending it when so many are against it. i'm a hartley fan, loved Henry Fool, but am not biased - THE GIRL FROM MONDAY I didnt like. I guess its one for the hartley fans, I loved the camera angles, the quirkiness and how the characters from henry fool are gradually reintroduced. many might dislike that its a 'slapstick-thriller' of a sequel to henry fool - a film which had more trueness and gritty realism; but I just sat back and enjoyed it and it was one of those great film experiences for me - so well written and exectuted.
