Review of Father's Little Dividend (1951) by Mirko B — 23 Nov 2008
Spencer Tracy rocks! Though Liz Taylor managed to create a character so annoyingly perfect that it seemed to be sugar-coated, Tracy steals the show as the witty narrator and the frustrated grandpa-to-be.
This is one of those very predictable stories, but it accomplished to show that behind that down-to-earth-conservative-conventional-attitude so typical for the American 1950's there was a need for adventure, a need for new challenges.
The remake with Steve Martin isn't even worth mentioning(just like Steve Martin in the same sentence with Tracy).
