Review of Fathers' Day (1997) by Kent L — 06 Feb 2005
Starring: Robin Williams, Billy Crystal, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Nastassja Kinski, Charlie Hofheimer, and Bruce Greenwood.
Directed by Ivan Reitman.
Written by Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel.
Rated PG-13 (for some sex-related humor and drug references).
Running time approximately 1 hour 39 minutes.
Ivan Reitman's Fathers' Day is a colossal miscalculation. I haven't seen such a despicable waste of talent in quite some time. It's a very sad day when two amazingly talented comedians like Robin Williams and Billy Crystal fail to muster up even the tiniest little laugh out of a viewer's insides. This is a pointless, stupid, insipid comedy that should've stayed an idea rather than becoming a time-waster. * (out of ****) D.
