Review of Father of the Year (2018) by Andrew M — 04 Aug 2018
I thought is was funny. Very well written. It is pure comedy, that is not trying to be witty or dry much like the comedy we see in modern film. It brings back that "wtf" side splitting comedy that was and still is Happy Madison.
It also had a real aspect. The characters were not oblivious to the world, and the real life concepts such as postmates and the people and characters that work for them. It was hilarious, and I am not sure why reviewers do not realize that the movie is meant to be stupid.
It achieves the "Family Guy" and "Bob's Burgers" type of comedy. I enjoyed every minute of it. It's funny. It's not meant to be deep and draw every emotion. In being a comedy, this movie excels.
