Review of Father Goose (1964) by Topher A — 26 Jul 2007
A gem of the sort that BBC2 used to serve up on Saturday mornings. Cary Grant sheds his debonair image to play an irascible drunkard alone on a pacific island during the second world war. Against his will he ends up playing nursemaid to the stunning Leslie Caron's fussy french teacher and her young charges.
They don't get along to start with, and you can imagine how things play out. The film is utterly rewatchable and loaded with charm.
