Review of Fatal Attraction (1987) by Steve S — 06 Jul 2011
***1/2 (out of four).
A enticing guilty pleasure. The cautionary tale sent waves of shock through movie audiences when it was released in 1987. A bit tamer today, but still packs a decent wallup.
Michael Douglas plays a happily married man who has a one night stand with a provacative woman, played perfectly by Glenn Close. When he breaks things off she turns psychotic.
Much has been said about the way director Adrian Lynne changed the ending to a more violent and crowd pleasing one. I actually side with the decision since he spent the whole movie developing this dangerous woman's personality. It would have been a shame to see her go out with a wimper instead of a bang.
