Review of Fatal Attraction (1987) by Nathan M — 16 Sep 2011
Absolutely thrilling! Glenn Close gives, I think, the scariest performance of her career (and Cruella De Vill counts). As Michael Douglas plays a married man who goes to a party one night & meets a woman (Close), that he's obviously attracted to.
They start having a little fling, **hint: sex** which goes on for a little while. Eventually after a little bit of time Close's character starts becoming obsessed with Douglas's character, so she starts calling his home phone.
Of course, the wife picks up. & it just becomes a crazy mess from then on. Before you know it it leads to abduction, & murder. I feel like Close should have won an award for this, but in a way I don't either.
I do, because she was just so utterly amazing in this, she makes you want to never meet a woman in a bar & have sex with her. I don't, because I feel like the movie's not eligible for that type of thing.
But award or not, Fatal Attraction is one creepy ride of a movie.
