Review of Fat Albert (2004) by Adrian Z — 19 Jun 2010
2 - Kenan Thopson looks and acts the part, however the premise of having Fat Albert and friends magically come through the TV into real life is never going to allow this self-referential film to be taken as anything else but a lame marketing exercise for the DVD boxset for the cartoon.
In fact the boxset is blatantly promoted in the film. I much would have preferred this to be a live-action interpretation of Fat Albert's world, going as far as setting it in the early 70s. But alas, this is not to be.
As it is, it's a harmless family comedy, with a few amusing scenes keeping it watchable. Bill Cosby appears as himself.
