Review of Fat Albert (2004) by Kay B — 27 Jun 2010
I was always a huge fan of Fat Albert as a kid, and this movie brought back some of those fond memories.
While, I have to admit that the premise was a little flat, it was a fitting saturday morning cartoon type of plot device that allowed the characters to enter the "real world". The portrayal of the characters were well done, and was able to make me smile and enjoy the antics.
Some may say this simply a "sermon about the value of clean family fun", I would have to say that the "cleaness" of the movie was in keeping with the original source cartoons and the characters. In a world where the "F" word is spouted by kids, and considered "funny", it's nice to have a dose of innocent fun for a change.
Even though I normally don't own movies that I rate below four stars, I would actually own this one, and watch it on those days where I simply want to curl up on the couch with a comfortable blanket, some popcorn, some pop to watch a light hearted movie.
