Review of Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! (1965) by De Maio D — 05 Jul 2007
I remember a year ago when Rob Zombie started hosting TCM's Underground and one night I got home from a friend's house at about 2am, turned on the tube and came across this flick. Holy shit...it's all I can say.
For a film made in '65 this flick is extremely racey. To think that Hitch's "Psycho" was called a grotesque dive into deprevation is absurb when looking at this film (and absurd anyway).
I won't lie ; the reason I initially stopped on this film is because I flipped on TCM and saw boobs. Not necessarily because it was "boobs", but because it's TCM showing boobs. Let's face it, TCM plays the classics and most of them are B&W and if its filmed in B&W the standards of the day would not allow you to show nudity, especially in a gratuitious way as this film does. But that was just my initial intrigue. I stopped on it and watched it from start to finish. Wow!!! I FINALLY found a old-school B-movie that lived up to expecations of being so hideouly, awesome bad it's deliciously GOOD!!! The dialogue is pretty bad, the sex scenes awkward though intriguing, and the death scenes are almost laughable. But that's what makes B-movies phenomenal.
The three vixens populating this flick are, admittedly, gorgeous and I don't throw that word around lightly. It actually sort of scares you and turns you one haha. Three women who know what they want...to race you, sleep with you, and then kill you HAHA!
Now, trying to find this puppy is fairly easy, just finding it for the right price is a different story. The cheapest I've found it is $35 for a single disc version, but I'll eventually find it and snatch it up. It's FAR TOO GOOD not to have. They play it on TCM fairly often too, so you can catch it there too.
Also, on a recent note, watch Tarantino's "Death Proof", then watch this again. See any connections? SEEEEEEEEEE!!!! It's called paying homage you fun-free hypocrits, you! You'll sit through a Michael Bay blow-fest without a hint of irony and shit yourself numb and call it "good!" , but when Tarantino or Rodriguez or anyone else goes and makes art out of B-movies or pays homage to a certain point in art you cry "it's TERRIBLE!!!" .
I LOVE THIS FILM!!! I said it!!!
