Review of Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! (1965) by Elaine M — 13 Jan 2009
The first and probably one of few to come Russ Meyer experiences for me, follows a trio of disturbingly out-of-proportion women (a trademark of Meyer's work), that under the heavy influence of their feisty leader, kidnaps a young girl and gets a bit violent.
The most disappointing aspect of the film is the exaggerated synopsis in reviews, such as Flixster's claiming their adventure as a 'greed and lust-filled murder and kidnap spree' (which it really isn't), and the DVD cover's mistake of going into detail about each death that occurs, leaving no room for surprise, and ultimately a much lower death-count than might have been expected.
It still has an enjoyable story, some comically over-the-top acting, a pretty funny script, and a generally very entertaining cartoony style, but the movie suffers under the lack of violence by a long way in my opinion, especially considering the the fantastic title and misleadingly inspiring reviews.
Whilst the constant focus on enormous breasts doesn't ruin the movie for me, it still doesn't interest me, which means a few parts are a little dull and draggy, but it's still pretty solid fun and worth seeing.
