Review of Faster (2010) by Dukejon — 06 Feb 2019
A by-the-numbers revenge story. The main character spends the movie bumping off people who were responsible for his brother's murder in an ambush ten years earlier. Though only one of the people he killed in revenge actually killed his brother, so you wonder if all the bloodshed is justified considering he was a part of a gang himself.
Dwayne Johnson barely says anything, he just roams around the city and does as he please (despite his image and identity being all over the news). Even going into a hospital at one point to finish off one of the "bad" guys.
He basically goes round shooting people in the head. There's also a pointless subplot with a millionaire assassin. The cop character is also only roughly sketched out. I thought the big twist at the end was a bit cheap as there was no reason to suspect that the cop had some involvement in the ambush all those years ago.
Why was his death more justified than if the assassin had been killed (who murdered people for fun) or if Dwayne Johnson's character had died (who made a lot of children fatherless in revenge for the death of his criminal brother).
I didn't feel anything for any of them.
