Review of Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982) by Jon C — 19 Jan 2014
This is one of the finest teen entries of the 1980's.
It truly rings the actual experience of high school and being a teenager in America.
The narrative isn't really that tight considering there are multiple subplots taking place, in fact, once you reach the end half of them don't even get resolved.
It's a bit abrupt and doesn't tie anything up.
Although the actors like Phoebe Cates, Sean Peen, Forest Whitaker, and a very young Nicolas Cage each go through their own troubled lives learning what to leave behind their senior year.
There's a lot of quotable lines and infamous scenes to really acknowledge and appreciate.
And it is a breath of fresh air to have a female director like Amy Heckerling address very sensitive subjects and you got some terrific female characters to speak about them.
The music rocks in here, too.
