Review of Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982) by Dmitri G — 07 Nov 2013
Hey, ain't no masterpiece, but it succeeds in being interesting without much pretention. I personally liked the portayal of the teenage girl as a very sexually active (as opposed to passive), just as misguided creature as boys.
She's not the typical prize-girl, she's all up for it and following an uncommitting, emotionally elusive model. They go for an abortion without much drama and routine imposes itself by its own weight.
The nice guy fails gloriously even though he had it made from the first moment. The uncommitted actors give it a certain air of authencity, not appearing literary characters but common simpletons. The film is a thing.
