Review of Fast Girls (2012) by Eric G — 18 Jun 2012
A feel good movie right before the Olympics... Hmmm. I'm wondering if this is planned as a feel good movie before the race... The film itself has a classic narrative: a battle of social classes and races between a talented but unruly young woman coming from a difficult background somewhere from an estate around London and an obnoxious competitive upper middle class daddy's girl.
You might have guessed who is from a black and who is from a white background... Yes, it's that cliche. And more. Individualism and team spirit, family and friends, etc. So nothing surprising to expect here.
That's disappointing. It's a british film using the same trappings as the average Hollywood film. It's watchable. No more. Reading the critics, it is funny to see how many are partial. Patriotism right before the games.
.. Ready!
