Review of Fast Food Nation (2006) by Enrica C — 19 Jan 2010
"Fast Food Nation" takes much effort to be watched because it is a movie that tries to report and denunciate some USA "problems", such as Spanish immigrants, working problems, incidents on work, ... not to mention that main theme regarding hamburgers & fast food chains policies.
At the end of the movie we have a very bad, corrupted image of the US in our heads. Seems like it's all about money, and that fast food really try to sell us not-so-good food produced by poor people (immigrants) and sold by other poor people (students who need a work to keep on going) ... Is it really like that? I don't know, but I really hope things aren't like that. Anyways I like this movie because it makes you think and elaborate these informations on your own, so you can have an opinion. After all this is another one of those polemic, semi-politic movies!
To me the "best" part comes to the end: when you get into the abattoir those scenes are so cold, upsetting, you can see the terror in those poor cow's eyes... I can say that after seeing those scenes I have almost decided to become a vegetarian. That's not really fair to do that to animals jsut because they're weaker than we are.
So in our society who's the real victim? Maybe this is the question whe should ask ourselves after seeing this movie...
