Review of Fast Five (2011) by Damjan R — 28 Apr 2013
When I see that an aggregate review on RT praises a film (It sure sounds like praise to me) for embracing its brainless action, we have a problem. I don't like that action these days is in fact so brainless, and this franchise pretty much epitomizes the new action aesthetic (ultra fast cuts, not obeying the laws of physics, bad aim shooting, etc.
). But then again this is not something new, it's just that this was reserved for B and C movie fare. The acting is so wooden, and uncharismatic it's not even funny, and the direction is flash and dash but light on story insight and cast chemistry.
It's just not any good. That said any and all fans of either The Rock and Vin Diesel should watch this, from a collector's perspective.
