Review of Fast Five (2011) by Jean-Nicolas T — 10 Feb 2014
I don't get the critics... This franchise is getting worse with every movie, as far as I'm concerned.
Acting ? Yes, I'll give it that.
Originality ? No. Some scenes look like a rip-off - of Ocean's 11 for example.
Special effects ? Yes, they're good.
But whether you will appreciate these special effects depends on how much you can suspend your disbelief when the laws of physics are *completely* ignored.
Scenario ? Well this is where I disagree with critics.
The first one had a good, simple scenario that fitted the action flick genre.
This is a scenario that tries to look smart, but it can't.
And... I can accept the usual Hollywood crap, such as "killing cops casually is ok, as long as the bad guy loose at the end".
But here our heroes are dumber than ever... And not funny.
They're not driving much anymore, either...
