Review of Fast Five (2011) by Louise G — 27 Jun 2016
Wow, okay so Justin Ln has surpassed himself as a director and storyteller. This film demonstrates to me why people love these films.
This is the pinnacle of everything these movies could be. Fully embracing the heist format and moving away from the street racing theme, this is a fantastic action-flick.
I would place this film alongside Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, Man On Fire and other such excellent examples of the genre.
Introducing Dwanye "The Rock" Johnson as an adversary for the team was a stroke of genius, as he and Vin's Toretto have a great back-and-forth.
The action set pieces, car stunts, one-liners and humour all meld perfectly. Plus, for the sap in me, reuniting.all of the main cast members from each movie in the franchise really helped tie it all together and believe in Dom's "family.".
I'm now really psyched to see what Fast & Furious 6 brings.
