Review of Fast Five (2011) by Tyler R — 25 Nov 2012
Usually, by the time a movie series hits number five, it has lost all steam and creativity. Luckily, this isn't the case for "Fast Five". The film follows Dom and the big players from the previous films as they attempt the job of a lifetime down in Rio, with the hopes of clearing their names.
The acting is cheesey, but so is the script, so it all pans out well with the jokes delivering their punches accordingly. Speaking of punches, the action has been amped up this time around, both fist fighting and car chases.
Theres a bit of a slow start, by that I mean character development, not action. It takes about 30 minutes for the characters to start to bleed through, and when they do, you actually feel like rooting for them this time around.
The acting is pretty good, the highlight being Dwayne Johnson. He has so much fun with his tough as nails character, and that energy pulsates in every scene he is in (or should I say, "every scene he steals"?).
The film doesn't take itself seriously (finally) and it is a pretty enjoyable ride for anyone.
