Review of Fast Five (2011) by Movie K — 01 Apr 2013

Bringing back most of the gang back for the 5th installment. Lesser action on cars this time round. Movie start off with Vin Diesel in the prison bus and busted out by Paul Walker and Jordana Brewster in cars. The couple goes to Rio to find Matt Schulze, who need their help for a job to get some cars on a train. Vin didn't show up until moments later to meet Matt. Paul and Jordana got the security card and access the carriage. The cars are impounded by DEA. Vin and some others show up to get the cars out. Sense something amiss, Vin let Jordana go off first and change of plan. Vin and Paul fight their way out, both got onto a car and crash into the sea. They are caught by the local gangster Joaquim de Almeida who wants to know the location of that car. Both manage to escape. Matt goes to find them. Vin trusted him but its to test him and indeed he took a chip from the car system. He shove him out. They access the chip and got to know the different money hideout of Joaquim. Dwayne Johnson is the agent assign to hunt them down. He ask for a translator Elsa Pataky who is just a rookie. He done his homework and deem her trustable. Dwayne and team go to the slums to hunt the trio. Vin save Elsa from been shot by the baddies. She pick up his necklace. When they need to seperate, Jordana says she is pregnant and don't wish to see them all gone. Vin and Paul plans to rob Joaquim every single dollar. They gather all the old gang members back - Sung Kang, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Gal Gadot, Tego Calderon & Don Omar. They hijack one stop and burn all the money. Joaquim fearing now ship all his money to a police station and they didn't expect that. Tyrese slip in a remote car to check the vault. They need a car fast enough to drift and evade the camera. Vin and Paul go to the local turf and found a Porsche and win it in a race. But it isn't fast enough. They tried many cars but none can make it. Feeling the heat from Dwayne, the gang goes out to lure him. They were off course outnumbered in the local turf. Ludacris planted a tracker on their vehicle. Later Vin goes to Elsa home to get his necklace back. He know she is a good gal. She believe he didn't kill the agents during the train heist. They need the palm print of Joaquim. Sung Kang is task to get it but he has no idea. Gal use her sexy body to get it. Joaquim touch his bikini bottom. They steal police vehicle to pass the camera instead. Matt save Jordana in the market when the baddies nearly got her. Vin trust him now. Got hold of Dwayne team far tracked, the team begin their action. Then surprisingly Dwayne and team pops in. He countered the tracker. Vin and him fight it out, he nearly use a spanner to kill Dwayne. Vin, Paul, Matt & Jordana are caught. Deporting back, Dwayne been ambush by the baddies. His team are eliminated. Paul urge Elsa to free them. They save Dwayne and escape. Matt is killed. Vin want to continue but the others think it is suicide. Dwayne is the first to say he is in, at least until Joaquim is dead. The others follow suit. Dwayne drive his armour car and crash the wall behind the vault. Vin and Paul uses steel cable rig to 2 cars to pull it out. The wehole police department are after their tail. Gotta be one of the best car chase action set piece ever. The duo use the vault to smash and crash everything in their way. Tyrese and Sung Kang pops up later to clear their left and right side. They gain a 10 second window. On the highway, they have no way to outrun them. The baddies also join in the chase. Vin release Paul's cable and reverse back to fight the pursuing cars. Eventually crashing into the baddie car. Paul came back and save Vin. Dwayne and Elsa show up. He shot dead Joaquim and give Vin 24hrs to run away and the vault stays. They left peacefully. Dwayne open the vault and find it empty. During the 10 second window, they transfer the real vault up to a truck and replace with the decoy. Everyone get their fair share and live their dreams. Most of them bought nice cars. Vin and Elsa and together and visit Paul and Jordana. During the credit, Eva Mendes pop into Dwayne office and show him a new heist case. Michelle Rodriguez been one of the likely member. A possible.
