Review of Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019) by Darkbloodshed13 — 07 Aug 2019
Fast and the Furious presents: Hobbs and Shaw is a film directed by David Leitch and is about Luke Hobbs played by the Rock being forced to team up with the man he hates the most, Deckard Shaw played by Jason Statham, in order to save the world and Shaw's sister.
This film is exactly what we have come to expect from the Fast and the Furious franchise, mindless action with over the top characters and and a plot with several implausibilities. Meaning this film could either be wicked fun or simply horrible, thankfully this follows the way of the former not the latter.
The characters all written and portrayed well and the action is well paced add that to your standard Fast and the Furious message of family and togetherness and could have a really great film. However, this film does have it's fair share of problems.
First being that it feels 30 minutes to long. The second problem is they don't give a good explanation for why they don't call the rest of the Fast and the Furious characters for help. I get not having them because you want to start a new series of films staring Hobbs and Shaw but you still need to give us a narrative reason why they aren't there.
Lastly though the action was well paced it wasn't shot all that well and it relied on to much slow motion. Yet those problems don't stop me from having a good time with the film. In conclusion if your looking for a good mindless action film to pass the time than this is the film for you.
