Review of Fast & Furious 6 (2013) by Mike J — 14 May 2015
Everything that made the previous movie so good is nowhere to be found here. In the previous one, Dom and his crew go up against The Rock and his character was different from all the villains in the past because The Rock wasn't a villain.
He was a cop trying to catch them which gave Fast Five an interesting dynamic. In this one, they're working together, trying to take down Shaw, a cliched villain we've seen in hundreds of action movies in the past.
Is that what makes this movie bad? No, but it does make it worse than Fast Five. What also makes it worse than Fast Five is the lazy story telling. Letty lost her memory?? Really?? That's the road we're going to go down?? (*Sigh*).
The over the top nonsensical action sequences certainly don't help and neither does Vin Diesel's corny one liners. in the end, Fast & Furious 6 is an average movie. Better than the fourth, but nowhere close to the brilliance of the fifth.
